Remote Canadian community grapples with aftermath of mass shooting that left 9 dead

Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, is reeling from a devastating mass shooting that claimed the lives of nine people. The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday when 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar attacked her mother and stepbrother at their home before targeting a nearby school.

Eyewitnesses report that Van Rootselaar entered the school armed with a modified handgun and proceeded to kill a teacher and five students, all aged between 12 and 13. The victims were transported to hospital where they received immediate medical attention, but unfortunately, none survived. Police recovered a long gun from the scene of the crime, which is believed to be the primary firearm used in the attack.
